Kristan Cunningham, Spencer Anderson and Dave Sheinkopf set out to give the Weinsteins a sophisticated French country dining room in which they can entertain and have family meals. They decided to bring warm, earthtone colors and interesting textures to this small space to accent its features. The new floor covering in this space incorporates all the warm colors and pulls the space together making the room feel grounded.
Anderson takes an antique-store bench ($175) from plain wood to a bold black to match the other furniture pieces in the room. A complementary cushion and several throw pillows makes for a cozy seating area.
The diverse colors and patterns give the room an eclectic charm.
In addition to new lampshades for the chandelier as well as lamps for the bench end tables, Cunningham adds a French twist to plain black sconces with a mirror, glass candlestick and glass chandelier crystals.
The walls are painted a pale green color to soften up the predominantly black and white tone.
The black and white finish at the bottom of the valances adds a little texture and still allows in plenty of light.
