Though it was love at first sight for Joan Berendt and her husband, Frank, when they found their 1840s Federal farmhouse, they knew it was in need of major restoration. They turned to architect Charles Spada to help them realize their dream of a simple country bedroom and bath with a French flair.

This small but intimate master bedroom integrates antique touches with contemporary styling. Tumbled marble, laid without grout, creates an Old World atmosphere in this master bath.
