The master bed is snuggled under one of the many eaves in the historical farmhouse. All About
Host Joan Kohn tours the recently enlarged master suite Jennifer Bardsley created for her 1860s farmhouse. She and designer Richard Rockwood were very careful to integrate the new portion of the house with the old, repeating the broken roof lines of eaves and dormers, which made charming ceiling lines for the new interior. Maintaining the scale of the original rooms also helped integrate the new and the old areas.
- The modest bedroom addition holds four pieces of furniture. The color scheme is monochromatic – taupe and cream with black accents. The silk headboard for the queen-size bed matches the fabric used for the drapes.
- The bathing area is quite unusual – actually two separate spaces with a pocket door in between. The old area has a tub, toilet and sink, and the new bath has a double vanity and corner shower.
- To connect the two bath spaces, the same tumbled marble was used for the flooring. Almond sinks, tubs and toilet, and chrome fixtures in both rooms further unite them.
