To maximize space, a custom-built wine rack is made for the dining area. The simple design came together using 4-inch, wire-mesh fencing, four maple boards and some rustic-looking hardware. Two equally-spaced dado grooves are cut into one side of the four boards. The rack is pre-assembled by placing the wire fencing inside the grooves of all four boards. When the fit is perfect, the boards are all stained. When dry, three of the four boards are fastened together then the wire fencing is slid into the grooves. The final board is fastened onto the others. Finally, decorative, rustic hardware and mounting hardware are fastened onto the rack.
