Homeowners Karin and Mark Appelbaum are looking to fix up their dining room. With two active boys, it's hard enough to find the time to update the 1960s ranch-style room, let alone make a decision on a paint color. They do a lot of entertaining in the room, which is in the center of their house, and they want a little help pulling their decisions together to update the space.

The homeowners started designing their dining room but hit a dead end after putting up seven paint swatches. The room includes a mishmash of items and has a rather dull color theme. The rug is worn and dated, and there are no curtains on the windows. Designer and host Karen McAloon coaches them through to process of elimination to help them discover their style.
