This multipurpose space needed a unified style to make it more inviting and comfortable. The room is revived with a new furniture plan, fresh colors and a new platform bed that doubles as a sofa.
Design Details
Kristan Cunningham, Spencer Anderson and Dave Sheinkopf work together to create an elegant organic living, dining and working space.
Paint and Supplies - $30
The white walls are painted a soft oyster color to provide the perfect muted backdrop to the more colorful pieces. (paint: Behr - Ocean Pearl 780C-3U (walls) Bitter Chocolate 790B-7D (bed))
Platform Bed - $206
Anderson builds a custom platform bed with a matching head- and footboard to make it look more like a sofa.
Photos - $120
Sheinkopf snaps photos of nature and finshes them in simple black frames with white mats.
Dining/Office Area - $214
The dining and office area is outfitted with a pair of thrift-store bookcases, which Cunningham enhances with a shelf in between for the computer. Modern dining chairs are paired with the homeowner's trestle table.(bookcases: Out of the Closet; dining chairs: IKEA - Herman, 38062210/White)
Pillows - $141
Cunningham sews lots of pillows for the bed to make it feel more like a plump sofa. (fabric: Journal Fabric; Home Fabrics; Fabrics N Fabrics)
Accessories - $121
A floating shelf above the bed balances out the framed photos on the adjacent wall and finishes off the sofa bed as the room's focal point. Accessories include glass vases and wicker storage boxes. (glass vases: Target - 065092275 & 065092274; wicker storage boxes: Mainly Seconds; wall shelf: IKEA - Lack, Dark Brown)
Window Shades - $87
Rattan Roman shades give privacy to the room while allowing the natural light to still filter into the space. (sage blinds: Pier 1)
Lighting - $47
Two lamps and a hanging pendant shade over the trestle table brighten the room. (floor lamp and shade: IKEA - Svenarp floor lamp black, 40066522; Ripe shade white, 40080311)
