Winship shares the steps for making the contemporary-style ottomans.
$75 - Ottomans
Round ottomans are situated in two corners for additional seating. To make them, a drum-shaped wood frame is constructed with a top and bottom wood disk and support pieces in between. The top is covered with 1-1/2-inch-thick foam and secured with spray adhesive. The foam is then covered with quilt batting and fabric and each layer is stapled to the top edge. The more labor intensive step is creating the piping and bottom "sleeve," which is sewn onto the top with a round upholstery needle in order to hide the stitches.
