East Coast Meets Far East

What happens when you mix a traditional style with Asian flair? You get a unique home with décor similar to the Menlo Park home designed by Christina Waag.

The Asian elements in the living room include a sofa upholstered in a red printed fabric, a white coffee table with a high-gloss finish and a trunk with a chinoiserie painting. The matching red chairs feature a more traditional pattern with bullion fringe. Small Asian rooster figurines are knotted onto the fringe for another subtle Asian hint.

The dining room is a blend of traditional, contemporary and Asian styles. The patterned floor rug was brought in first. The tabletop is traditional but the pedastal has an Asian flair.

A traditional striped fabric is found on the chair seats.

Colorful artwork dictacted the red, black and white palette in the family room. A more traditional look is evident in the plaid sofa fabric. Patterned fabric on the pillows and side chair complement the traditional look.

The homeowner's wanted a warm and cozy feeling in the master bedroom so Waag infused the space with soft yellow and blue fabrics and blond wood furnishings. The look is 100% traditional with the mixture of plaid and floral fabrics, an upholstered headboard, matching nightstands and woven side chair. A quilted cream fabric was used for the duvet.
