Den Makeover Using Color

Designer Ilona Saari and her husband were tired of their Western-themed office, so she changed it with paint.

After a new paint color and careful editing of furnishings, the space now evokes a New York penthouse library.

Using dark gray paint to cover the walls, ceiling and bookcases she was able to create a slick library reminiscent of her old New York home. She came up some clever no-sew ideas to help unify the theme, including using a shawl to cover a seat cushion and fabric remnants to cover an ottoman.
