  • Remove the paper from the back of a self-adhesive floor tile. Lay a decorative fabric onto the sticky side of the tile. Cut into 4 x 4 square coasters (figure A).

  • Glue felt onto the backs of small decorative tiles to use as coasters.

  • Use old CDs as coasters by gluing foam board to the backs. These work great for holding pillar candles (figure B).

  • Make coasters out of plain round plastic lids. Fill them with mosaic craft adhesive and press glass pieces or beans into it (figure C). Let dry overnight. Buff with wax paper to bring out the shine.

  • Make coasters by decoupaging a photo to the bottom of a round glass candle plate or a square cut piece of glass (figure D).

  • Wrap sisal into a round coaster (figure E). Adhere as you go with a glue gun.
