The space morphs into a sophisticated, deco-style dining room for just $1,600.Kendall removed the metallic wallpaper and painted the walls blue-gray, and she hung a midnight-blue satin-like drapery panel over the kitchen door, using a silver rod. She concealed an unused radio intercom system using framed plywood and a coat of wall paint, and placed a ficus tree in front of the covered intercom box to further camouflage and add a touch of greenery.
A silver-framed vertical piece of art hangs on the wall between the covered door and the ficus tree. Kendall replaced hardware on the existing buffet with silver pulls to add flair. She wrapped pewter fabric around the wood frame of a large mirror and hung the piece on the wall over the buffet. A 6'x4' oval-shaped piece of plywood is placed on an existing table to enlarge it.
Kendall covered the table with the same type of satiny fabric used to cover the kitchen doo, topped the table with a piece of plastic and cut to fit. She added black tubular metal chairs around the table, with seat cushions covered in the same material as the mirror frame. She also wrapped the chandelier cord with pewter fabric to add panache.
Kendall accessorized the buffet with a cut-crystal ice bucket, a silver-plated tray filled with glasses and a deco-style pitcher and brushed metal candlesticks. On the dining table, she added mirrored glass place mats, silver-banded china, glass goblets, white cotton napkins and flatware. Silver-plated candlestick holders and floral arrangements in glass containers complete the look.
