Cozy, Modern and Traditional Family Room

The family room used to be an outdoor porch, and when the homeowners enclosed it, they left a long, awkward step that leads into the rest of the house. Summer decides to use the step for extra seating. She tops the step with 3/4-inch plywood, four-inch foam and fabric that coordinates with the rest of the room decor. She attaches the cushion to the wall with L brackets so that it won't slide around when people sit on it.
