Student designer Tylor Jeffery is put to the test as he is chosen to turn the large, stark great room of Kimberly and Robert Bogin into a rustic mountain space. With a dramatic new room color, handmade artistic pieces, updated furniture and the help of two handymen, Jeffery is on his way. With only $2,000 and two days, this designer is in for quite a challenge in this 1000-square-foot great room.
The couple's great room in their rustic mountain home was full of contemporary furniture from their previous East-coast dwelling and they weren't sure what to do about it. Also, the existing white walls weren't doing anything to highlight the beautiful and grand architecture of this entry area, but the homeowners were hesitant to use color to do that.
Jeffery used a barely-there cream color to add some life to the window wall. The new furniture arrangment takes better advantage of the focal points (the fireplace, TV and the view outside). A new entertainment unit neatly houses all of the equipment and stores the CDs safely out of reach. Jeffery boldly chose a red accent color for the entry wall without the homeowner's knowledge or consent. Luckily, they loved the choice!
