The one place that would be healing is the family's beloved cottage, which they can no longer visit. Jane's plan is to bring the vivid memories of the cottage into their home through color. Sean and Shelley both recall walks through the forest under fall leaves and watching the sunset while sitting on the dock. Jane's magic transforms their living room into walls of creamy white inspired by white birch bark trees, under a canopy of pale green painted on the ceiling. The warm sunset is brought in through the yellow sofa and orange accent pillows.
Did you know? White and light colors brighten up spaces because they reflect more light; white is linked to innocence and purity, so a white room feels safe. Light green has a calming influence that we instinctively connect with young plants and seedlings, which represents regeneration and regrowth.
