Build a freestanding corner unit for extra food storage and to hold a television.
Materials:

circular saw
plywood
drill
wood glue
1-1/4" drywall screws
1" x 8" and 1" x 2" poplar boards
tape measure
spackling compound
hammer
finish nails
primer
paint
paintbrushes

Steps:

1. To make the back of the cabinet, attach two 72" x 28" plywood panels together by drilling pilot holes along one edge. Run a bead of glue along the edge, and then screw the pieces together using a butt joint and drywall screws.
2. Attach a 1x8 board to each of the outside edges of the plywood panels, which will become the two side panels of the cabinet. Drill pilot and countersink holes, and then use glue and screws to secure the pieces to the front edges.

3. For the top shelf, measure the inside of the cabinet and transfer the measurements to a piece of 4' x 4' plywood. The front measurement will be an angle cut running the distance between the two side poplar boards (figure A). Place the shelf in position and secure using wood glue and screws after drilling pilot and countersink holes.
