Before: Drab Junk Room
Elizabeth and fiancé John love to spend time in their backyard pool house after a long work week. They like the convenience of it, but over the years, it has turned into a catchall-type junk room. A long wall of garage-style cabinets holds all the pool stuff, but are unsightly — they don't stay closed unless they are tied together with bungee cords. The homeowners want to transform this drab interior into a bright, beautiful sanctuary. They would like to use the space for entertaining, so it needs to have a lot of seating and a small kitchen area. Attractive and organized storage is another must. They need plenty of room to keep pool supplies and items for entertaining.

Raising the ceiling and bringing in new windows and French doors now has the room drenched in sunlight. Soothing colors and beautifully textured materials provide the spa-like feel the homeowners wanted. The dark-wood cabinets contrast wonderfully against the blue and green color palette. Elizabeth and John now have a pool house that's not only a great backdrop for entertaining, but it's also a soothing sanctuary for the couple to unwind and relax.
