These four homes may be compact, but they offer a lot of style and function with modern, artistic decors.

Diana Marsh always dreamed about buying her own apartment with a big kitchen, living room and a space for guests, but she never throught she'd have to fit all of that into the space of a garage. It didn't seem possible, but Marsh was able to fit her home and work life into a compact, 350-square-foot, one-bedroom, walk-up apartment. She was drawn to the location in Brooklyn and to the space because of its south-facing windows.
Marsh replaced a small doorway between the living room and bedroom with a larger opening and French doors to open up the space. She adhered colored paper on the back of the windows to create a stained glass look and to provide privacy when she has houseguests.
