How to Sew Colorful Floor Cushions

Recycle old Mexican blankets into colorful floor cushion covers. Follow these step-by-step instructions.

Materials:

Mexican blankets
scissors
measuring tape
cushions (or pillow stuffing)

Steps:

1. Measure the cushion to determine how much blanket fabric will be needed to cover it. Cut two pieces from the blanket to serve as the front and the back of the new cushion cover, adding extra for half-inch seam allowances.
2. Sew the pieces together, leaving an opening of about 10 inches. Fit the new cushion cover over the existing cushion or fill it with pillow stuffing.
3. Hand-stitch the opening closed.
