Colleen and Paul Loria want to figure out a way to remodel the non-kitchen part of the great room in their 19th-century New Orleans home. They've had a hard time figuring out a layout that maximizes the square shape and minimal wall space. The Lorias would also like to tie in the adjoining kitchen and add an adult-friendly social space. Three Louisiana designers will compete for the opportunity to jazz up the space for these fun and busy parents.
After careful consideration, the Lorias chose Monique Breaux of Posh Interiors for her ingenious ideas. Breaux plays up the architectural features of the space to give it a classic New Orleans look. She adds a faux wall finish to blend into the kitchen area, a wet bar, and chenille chaises over a soft carpet. An existing bench is recovered in a quilted silk and lamps, artificial palm trees, and contemporary art add the finishing touches to the room.
