Classic Casual Living Room

By staying true to the architecture of the home, and using some of the homeowner’s existing pieces, the design team created a room that is elegant yet, comfortable and casual. Two new, red-slipper chairs and four ottomans maximize the seating area. The ottomans are great for casual design because they can easily move around and be used as a coffee table or additional seating. The homeowners' beautiful Asian-style, apothecary cabinet is kept in the same place. The mix of styles, periods and textures work together to create a sense of history and personality. The stark-white fireplace no longer blends into the walls. By painting it black then using a faux-paint treatment, the mantel now has an aged look that matches the Asian-style cabinet and makes it the room’s focal point.
