Design coordinator Ali Azhar updates a thrift-store cocktail table with mosaic tile. After a fresh coat of stain, he cuts the top surface out of the piece and replaces it with backer board (available at home-improvement stores). He sets the stone with mortar and seals the finished piece to make it stain resistant.
