The designers chose a bold color palette for the space because it's isolated from the rest of the house. The trend toward neutrals in country decorating is nice and true blue country is always beautiful but for country style that really pops, why not go for primary colors? Midwest Living magazine pulled out all the stops at the Symphony Design Showhouse in Des Moines, Iowa, to create a cheerful and very colorful guest bedroom.
The vibrant colors and multitude of patterns are anchored with a backdrop of white found on the bed, bench, desk and accessories. The curtains are made of a broadly striped fabric in red, blue and yellow and hung from a white rod. Throw pillows are covered in floral, Americana and country-checked fabrics.
The painted floorcloth echoes those patterns in its graphic design. Salvaged materials are another important element in the space, like the window with the painted floral design and the rewired and repainted chandelier. The space is functional for both guests and homeowners alike with a desk area, armoire and comfortable bench with storage baskets underneath.
