Julie and Chris Gilbert, a professional kite-boarding couple, have settled down, sort of, in a 100-year-old Oregon home. They want to redecorate and update the two main rooms without losing the bungalow's wonderful Craftsman style.

The Gilberts decide to use the expertise of Janet Ott, who envisions two colorful rooms that combine a variety of styles. After removing the carpet, they finished the wood floors and added area rugs. The color scheme of red, green and khaki combined with the new comfortable furniture create a warm atmosphere. The once undefined rooms are now distinct areas that highlight the home's style.
