Brick is a popular material in home building as it's very warm with a lot of texture. Now there's a new twist on brick--it can be sleek, modern and used to transform plain walls into something very special.

When brick face is installed on a plain wall, the room becomes much warmer and cozier. With so much color and texture on the walls, enhance the loft look by keeping the decor and furnishings simple (figure A).
You may be surprised to learn that brick walls are as easy to decorate as painted ones--just about any color goes with a brick face, it's a natural background for all types of artwork plus it's a timeless finish.

As home design moves toward a warming trend, brick face is also showing up in the bathroom to bring the outside look in. Other natural elements like a wooden sink enhance the brick's earthy touch (figure B).

As a fireplace facade, brick face is a practical solution and creates a cozy feeling. No matter where it's used, brick facing is virtually maintenance-free and a great insulator.

A brick face surface is very reasonable in price and homeowners can install the 1/4-inch thick pieces themselves using a system designed to make it easy (figure C).
