Steps:

1. Mount the flat rod at the top of the window trim and the regular one eight inches below it.

2. Iron fusible shade backing to the wrong side of the fabric for added weight and strength.

3. Determine the desired total valance length by holding a tape measure on the top flat rod and deciding how long the lower edge will hang (17 inches for the featured project). Add about three inches to that length to allow for a small header and a rod pocket. Measure the rod length for the width.

4. Cut out a rectangle of fabric to this size, keeping in mind that the sides from below the top rod pocket need a little extra width for a seam allowance to attach the side panel. Sew the top rod pocket and slide it over the flat rod. While on the window, determine the exact shape needed for the sides.

5. Cut each out and sew them to the excess on the sides of the panel.

6. Cut out the scalloped edge along the bottom and hot-glue the trim over it.
