Hide CaptionShow CaptionColors that mimic the sea and sky are added to bring color to the room.
The walls blend the colors of the sea and sky. Paint expert Danielle Hirsch layered the walls with a light blue base coat and a turquoise glaze. Using a random brushstroke to apply the glaze gives the color movement like the elements it mimics. When using blue wall color, chose white accents for a cooler look and red tones for a warmer feel.

Bromstad pulls the ethereal wall color down with a deep, vibrant red rug. He also uses that accent color throughout the design, creating visual movement around the entire room. If you’re using bold colors in a room, painting woodwork the same color as the neutral furniture keeps the room from looking busy.
