For her 40th birthday, Marilyn Griffin decided to create the bedroom she always wanted. Working on a budget, she used her own creativity and the help of friends to create the bedroom of her dreams. The result is a spacious contemporary bedroom and bathroom in an older colonial home.
Previously procured items became a big part of the design for this master bedroom. The hardwood floors (acquired from a local school’s music room) complement the antique and reproduction cherry and mahogany furniture. The large open windows (bought from a classified ad) provide a generous amount of light. The high cathedral ceiling conveys openness and the Oriental rugs add warmth and texture to this contemporary suite.
This master bath revolves around the vibrant and colorful sinks that were purchased from a pottery store and were originally installed with laminate countertop. As renovations progressed, a granite countertop replaced the laminate one. The granite countertop sits on a natural oak vanity accompanied by brass hardware.
