Complement the tranquil environment of any room with a water fountain. To make one, cut a piece of split bamboo, leaving about an inch extra to either side of the end rings, which create natural seals for the water to collect. Drill a hole the size of the rubber hose (from a fountain kit) in the bottom center of the bamboo, and then drill several smaller holes on either side. Lean two pieces of slate together to form an "A". Allowing space for the rubber hose, place the bamboo at the top of the "A". Secure the bamboo to the slate with waterproof adhesive (hold the pieces together temporarily using hot glue if necessary). Use hot glue to hold the hose in the large drilled hole. Apply flexible waterproof caulking inside and outside around the hose. Place the bamboo and slate frame into the planter bottom over the pump. Add stones to disguise the pump and add water as per the manufacturer's directions.
