Asian-Inspired Loft

Julia Huffman and her boyfriend, Chuck Alletto, are having a tough time combining their households. On top of that, they're dealing with an unusual space — a large, industrial-style loft.

The dull primer-like wall paint, awkward furniture arrangement and poor lighting make this roomy loft space seem cold and uninviting. The 24 Hour Design team of Angelo Surmelis, design assistant Wanda Colón and carpenter Chris Ashe set out to help this couple blend their styles with minimal effort, but with a big impact — and they'll do it all in just one day. Defining the room into three separate, yet cohesive areas is the first step. Those areas will be living/dining, kitchen and bar.
