Jennifer Welch is a student designer ready to make the updates necessary for the couple. Welch plans to paint the room bold red and tan, add shoji screens, original artwork, bamboo wainscoting and banquette seating plus rebuild the upstairs loft.
This living room hasn't changed in five years so it's due for an update. Morlie Wang has collected a lot of ideas in that time and passes them on to Jennifer to incorporate into the makeover.
Morlie's father painted the Chinese characters (Knowing, Contentment, Always, Happy) and an original piece over the fireplace, which keep the generational spirit alive in this family home.
The room is long and skinny, and the homeowners feel paralyzed by the white space. They need help making it family friendly for their new addition, an adopted baby from China.
