Hide CaptionShow CaptionA gray-blue color is added to the walls for a touch of calming sophistication.
For the walls, Dave and Andrea choose the cool, bluish gray color of stone—calming but refreshing, too. For contrast on the floor, they select the golden orange glow of flax seeds; the old carpeting is replaced with warm, exotic hardwood flooring. The Victorian headboard is replaced with a simple, rectangular one and the bed is raised on a platform. The headboard is upholstered in a white ultrasuede, a durable, stain-resistant fabric. The retro chairs are reupholstered in a light teal fabric, which blends into the wall color. Orange accents on the bed tie in with the floor color.
Did You Know? Shades of blue are relaxing and mellow, and gray adds a sophisticated undertone. Gray also makes people feel safe.
