Christopher and Monique Burke have splinters from all the wood paneling in their '60s ranch home. The worst room is the kitchen and they need design help. With their son in Marine training school, the Burkes rarely eat in their outdated kitchen covered in paneling. It hasn't been changed since the house was built in '67, so they want to change it using the colors, clean lines and geometric shapes of art deco style. Student designer Deborah Hernandez updates the space with bright colors reminiscent of the art deco period, a mosaic backsplash and stained glass cabinet doors.
