The makeover starts by taping off several sections of the walls in geometric shapes. The different sections are painted two shades of green to give the space more architectural interest and depth. The layout of the room is mostly kept the same, but, the bulky old furnishings are replaced with more modern, streamlined pieces. A quilted, suede headboard adds a touch of luxury and elegance. The bed is dressed with a combination of feminine florals and masculine stripes. Red silk drapes are hung at the ceiling line to make the room look taller. To help set the romantic tone, nineteen clear-glass orbs filled with tea lights are hung from the ceiling around the lamp pendant. When the candles are lit and the lights are off, the homeowners can lie in bed and have the illusion of floating candlelights.
Tip: If you live in a home that doesn’t have any architectural features, tape off an area and paint it a different color, it will add lots of depth and interest.
