Hosts Matt Fox and Shari Hiller give a new family room addition a country cottage makeover. The contemporary architecture poses a challenge as they create a more traditional feel to flow with the rest of the home. Shari has some tips on floor planning and color blending, while Matt works on the small details in the room that will make the country cottage design complete.
This family room has high ceilings, large windows, a big sliding door to a deck and a lovely fireplace placed on an angle. Its contemporary lines can still create a cottage feeling, depending on the design choices that are made. This large opening with two columns leads to the old family room, which is now the kitchen eating area. The furniture in the new family room is in good condition and really only needs a better arrangement to make it flow smoothly.
