A Bold, Bright Living Room

Cunningham created the stencil, which was then cut into the steel at a metal shop. For a look that matched the Moroccan style, she created a weathered look with an oil-based stain. After she sanded the steel, she applied the stain with a brush and kept playing with it while it dried. As the stain tends to bubble as it dries, she kept mottling it with a dry brush or adding more stain where needed for a worn, textured look. A stained pine frame completes the effect.
