Hide CaptionShow CaptionRedefining the purpose of objects is a necessity on a bare-bones budget, but sometimes it's just good fun. With that, the Design on a Dime team creates a Moroccan-inspired living room with less than $1,000.
Sarah Demamiel recently moved into her apartment, but her busy schedule hasn't allowed time for decorating. Designer Kristan Cunningham and design coordinators Dave Sheinkopf and Spencer Anderson revitalize her uninspired space with bold colors, texture and warmth. For less than $1,000, they fashion an exotic, Moroccan-style living room that expresses Demamiel's love of art and travel.

The Dilemma
Walking into Demamiel's living room, the first thing in sight is the workspace. Her personality and love of travel are lost in a sea of white walls. She admits that her home is about as beige and white as it can get, that it looks as though she's scared of color. Apparently, all the colorful things aren't on sale. To make matters worse, she has only two lamps in the room, one of which is broken. Her daytime light is good, but one lamp doesn't cut it at night. In her dreams, Demamiel would like a room that is warm and inviting with a Moroccan feel to it.
