Before: The old kitchen was small and didn't have the same 1920s look of the rest of her house. When homeowner Peggy Geffen decided to remodel the kitchen in her 1920s-era home she made sure to stay true to the styles of that period without sacrificing today's conveniences. Here's how architect Dewitt Talmadge Beall turned her kitchen dream into a reality.
To create the retro feel, Geffen chose antique-looking beadboard cabinets, water-glass cabinet door inserts, a farmhouse sink, reproduction hardware and old-style Carrera marble countertops. A pro-style stove and custom hood provide the latest in cooking ease, along with a separate convection oven. High-tech appliances are integrated into the design with cherry wood and beadboard paneling.
cherry wood cabinets, wraparound backsplash featuring imported tiles, beadboard cabinets with brushed nickel handles and pulls, Carrera marble countertop, period replicas of light switches and faucets, water-glass cabinets, butler's pantry, custom designer hood, six-burner stove, integrated, super-silent dishwasher, custom designed spice and knife drawer - DeWitt Designer Kitchens
