$100 Half-Day Designs: Painted Wall Stripes

Materials:

pencil
laser level
painter's tape
tape measure
paint
paint finish
rollers
fine-tipped brushes
shelves
picture frames
old wallpaper samples

Steps:

1. Use a ruler and pencil to divide the wall at the different heights, where you want your stripes. Set the laser level to the wall at those intervals and run tape along the line projected around the room by the laser level. Repeat this for each line.

2. Use the roller and brushes as necessary to paint inside the taped-off areas.

3. While waiting for the paint to dry, put the old wallpaper samples into the frames. Try to choose an array of patterns in colors that will nicely compliment the chosen paint colors.

4. After paint has almost totally dried, remove tape and mount the shelves.
