Photography by Philip Friedman/Studio D Materials Needed:
- medium-grit sandpaper
- paintbrush
- acrylic primer
- semigloss latex paint in 2 colors
- painter's tape
1. Sand It
Sand the wood to remove any old paint or varnish and to even out any nicks.
2. Prime and Paint
Prime the entire piece and let dry, then paint the inside of the shelves (we used Fall Harvest by Benjamin Moore); let dry. Tape off the interior edges of the shelves. Apply the second color (ours is Jet Stream by Benjamin Moore) to the outside of the bookcase. Use short strokes and just a little paint at a time on the shelves' narrow edges to avoid drips. Let dry.
3. Accessorize
Fill baskets with bath goodies and place them on the shelves.
