Kareen Kjelstrom loves creating jewelry. In this project, she makes a lovely beaded bracelet with multiple strands.
Materials and Tools:
7 handmade glass beads (9-10mm)
black agate
black Swarovski crystals
black onyx
small black stones
30" nylon-coated wire
2 sterling silver cones
2 sterling silver spacer bars
sterling silver toggle clasp
6 sterling silver crimp beads
4" of 22-gauge sterling silver round wire
round nose pliers
chain nose pliers
To make the beads:
minor bench burner
oxygen and propane
Effetre (Morretti) glass rods
steel mandrels
fiber blanket
Steps:
1. Make glass beads: Turn on oxygen and propane. Light the torch. Heat glass, attach and shape on steel mandrel. Allow to cool in fiber blanket. Remove glass bead and clean.
2. String black agate, onyx, Swarovski crystals, and small black beads to three strands of nylon-coated wire. Interchange stones with handmade glass beads.
