Quilt designer and creator of the 24-tile quilt pattern, Raymond K. Houston, joins Alex Anderson in the studio. He discusses the grid and 24 guidelines for today's project. Houston has come up with a 4-name system for design: translation, rotation, reflection and glide rotation. Today he demonstrates the "ALEX" quilt design. Step by step he guides us through examples of each name system, colors and his quilts that reflect each name. Just by re-arranging the "ALEX" we see different patterns emerge. You can construct the quilt by paper piecing, or creating templates and piece together.
