Mari Robeson returns to paint a personalized canvas acrylic banner.

Materials:

2’ x 3’ unstretched and primed canvas
7/8" diameter x 3’ dowel
two 1-1/4" wooden ball knobs
crafters glue
various colors of acrylic paints
paintbrushes
pie plate (to use as a palette)
glitter
ribbon
3/4" paper fasteners
personalized templates, butterfly, "Sweet Dreams"
tracing and transfer paper
scissors or craft knife
computer
printer
pencil

Steps:

1. Measure and cut out the 2’ x 3’ canvas with a 1-inch or so extra border.

2. Print out the name of the child in desired font and actual size on the computer.

3. Lay out design and using trace and transfer technique, add Sweet Dreams to the personalized kid's banner (figure A).

4. Trace the butterfly template onto the kid's banner (figure B).

5. Draw a border design on the banner.

6. Paint the Sweet Dreams banner with acrylic paint and embellish with glitter (figure C).

7. Paint the wood knobs and dowel. Then glue the knobs to each end of the dowel.

8. Trim the borders of the final design. Fold the top portion over the dowel (figure D) and attach with paper fasteners.

9. Cut a piece of ribbon long enough for the hanger and tie to each end of the dowel (figure E).
