Sunflower Wall Hanging

Materials and Tools:

1/4" hardwood pressboard panel approx. 36" square
latex paints, brown, light yellow, medium yellow, dark yellow
brown stained glass sheet cut to approx. 4" x 10"
picture hanger
glass glue
glasscutter
jigsaw
foam brushes
power drill
pencil, ruler
safety glasses and ear protection
sawhorses
clamps
paper towel
nails and hammer
hammer

Step 1

Steps:

1. Draw a sunflower onto 1/4-inch hardwood with a pencil.

Step 2

2. Wearing safety glasses and ear protection clamp the wood to two sawhorses and drill pilot holes around the flower center.

Step 3

3. Cut out the center of the sunflower with a jigsaw, insert the saw blade into the previously drilled holes.
4. Cut out the sunflower petal shapes.

Step 5

5. Paint the base coat of the sunflower with brown latex paint using a foam brush. Let dry.

Step 6

6. Highlight the petal details using light yellow, medium yellow and dark yellow latex paints. Let dry.

Step 7

7. Cut a rectangle of brown glass large enough to cover the center hole using a glasscutter and ruler to score the glass. Break the glass along the edge of a tabletop.

Step 8

8. Glue the glass to the back of the sunflower using glass glue. Remove excess glue with a paper towel. Let dry.

Steps 9-10

9. Nail a picture hanger to the back of the board.

10. Display the finished wood and stained glass sunflower wall hanging.
