Materials and Tools:
44" x 44" light-colored heavy-duty camouflage fabric
Wrights 80" x 3/4" white cotton cording
Duncan Chunk Stamps: "rib- it", gecko, garden lizard, oak leaf, leaf sprig
TulipSoft brushable velveteen fabric paint: green, black, blue
TulipSoft brushable matte fabric paint: lime, mandarin orange, glacier white, holly green, crimson red
TulipSoft brushable neon fabric paint: tropical green
sponge applicators
12" x 6" red felt
handful of fiberfill
1 yard of ribbon
green embroidery thread
needle
pencil with unused eraser
small paintbrush
paper plates
Steps:
1. Pour paints onto a paper paint and use the sponge applicators to apply to stamps. Stamp five or six each of the frog, lizard and gecko over the fabric. Let dry completely. Use tropical green and lime for the lizard, and red for the tongue. Use velveteen green and lime for the gecko, and velveteen green for the frog.
2. Dip the new eraser into glacier white paint to make eyes for the frogs. Use the handle end of the small paintbrush and glacier white paint to make eyes for the geckos and lizards. Let dry completely.
3. Use the handle end of the small paintbrush and the velveteen black paint to make black dots in the eyes of all the reptiles. Let dry completely.
4. Use the pencil eraser and mandarin orange paint to make spots down the back of the geckos.
5. Stamp the oak leaf and leaf sprig stamps here and there on the fabric. Use the holly green and velveteen blue paint for the leaves. Let dry completely.
7. Place right sides of the fabric together. Pin the edges together. Measure 4 inches from the top edge. Mark a 2-inch area. Do not sew the opening when you sew the side seam. Sew the side seam using a 5/8-inch seam.
8. Turn the top edge under 3-1/2 inches. Topstitch 3 inches down from the top edge. Run the roping through the tube using the 2-inch opening.
9. Tie the ends of the roping together in an overhand knot.
10. Cut two felt hearts. Place the knot over one of the hearts. The pointed end of the heart should face up and the two rope ends go over the fullest part of the heart. Place the second heart on top of the first, sandwiching the roping in the middle.
11. Use a needle and three strands of embroidery floss to stitch the hearts together. Use a straight stitch, blanket stitch or any embroidery stitch you like. Add a small amount of fiberfill to fill out the heart before you finish stitching.
12. With the bag right sides together, drop the heart out of the bottom of the bag. Pin the bottom edges together and sew a 5/8-inch seam.
