Materials:
fireplace screen
primer
white base paint
glaze #123 Baltimore
3" brush
1/4" roller
scraper
varnish
Accentuations Kokopelli rub-ons
scissors
blue painter's tape
Steps:
1. Apply primer to fire screen. Let dry and sand lightly.
2. Apply a coat of white base coat paint with 1/4-inch roller. Let dry overnight.
3. Apply glaze with a 3" brush in a crisscross manner (figure A). Let dry 10 minutes. With the scraper, scrape lightly over painted surface (figure B). This will reveal the under coat. Let dry overnight.
4. Select various designs from the Accentuations rub-ons. Place them on the fireplace screen (figure C). When you have your desired design effect, remove the backing paper and tape lightly with the blue tape (figure D).
5. Working from the corner down, evenly rub the design down with the craft stick till the rub-on is transferred (figure E).
6. Apply the primitive man in the middle and transfer in the same method. Use the tissue paper backing to polish the rub-ons.
7. Apply a coat of varnish. Let dry.
8. Primitive man can be embellished with gold glitter fabric paint if desired (figure F).
