Shades of Gray

Using shades of one color creates a dramatic effect on any scrapbook page. Guest Joy Macdonell explains how any beginner can use this technique.

Simple lines—along with a monochromatic color scheme—really make the photos stand out.

Materials:

card stock in three shades of one color (light, medium and dark)
photos of the same color scheme
computer and printer
punch

Mat each photo on various shades of the background cardstock.

Create a monochromatic background by placing symmetrical shades of cardstock on the background page.

Adhere matted photos to the page.

Create a title on your computer leaving several spaces between each letter.

Use a punch to cut out each letter.

Assemble each letter onto a strip of cardstock and adhere to the page.
