Designer Rebecca Ludens shares some ideas for turning paper scraps into fabulous borders and page accents.

Materials and Tools:

Several pieces/scraps of coordinating cardstock shades or paper
Adhesive
Background cardstock
Coordinating cardstock for matting
Other embellishments (wire, eyelets, etc.) as desired

Steps:

  1. Select the scraps you want to work with, then tear them into strips approximately 1" wide (or into smaller pieces as desired). Run through a sticker machine or thoroughly coat with adhesive.

  • Completely adhere each torn scrap of paper in a random fashion onto the background cardstock.

  • Embellish by rubber stamping, heat embossing or adding glitter or other flat decorations.

  • Cut the decorated background into 1-1/2" squares and mat with a coordinating solid shade of cardstock.

  • Decorate squares as desired, then add to scrapbook layout.
