Seashell Shadow Boxes

Leslie Frederick creates a great shadow box using a simple origami technique. The shadowbox is a great way to add seashells to your vacation pages.

Materials and Tools:

green, blue and tan textured paper
palm pattered paper (palm tree on one side)
shells
glue dots
lettering template (optional)

Steps:

Cut squares of green and tan and tear blue into a thin strip.

Create origami squares from tan paper—these will become shadow boxes for the shells. Begin by folding each square diagonally and pinching at the crease. Repeat in the opposite direction.

Open the square and notice the creased "x" in the center. Fold each tip to the center of the "x" until a diamond shape is created. Next, fold back 1/4" - 1/8" of each tip back toward outer edge.
