Photo Corners
Materials and Tools:

Paper Pizazz paper:
 - collage background paper (from the book Collage Papers)
 - golden, tan, rose vellums (Pastel Vellum Papers)
 - metallic gold (Metallic Papers, also available by the sheet)
 - pale yellow (Plain Pastels)
pencil
ruler
scissors
gold pen
acid-free adhesive
scrap paper

Steps:

1. Cut the following strips of vellum:
 - golden vellum: one 4" x 11" piece
 - tan vellum: one 6.5" x 9" piece; four, two-inch squares
 - rose vellum: one 2" x 11" strip; one 6.5" x 6" piece, Use the ruler and the gold pen to doodle a border around the edge of the 2" x 11" strip.

2. Crop and mat the photo, first placing it on metallic gold, then on pale yellow. To make the vellum waterfall folded photo corners, start with one of the tan, two-inch vellum squares. Fold the square in half, then in half again, making it a one-inch square. Turn the folded piece so the open corner is at the top. Fold the layers down one at a time, folding each point a little shorter than the previous one. Repeat with the other tan vellum squares. Place a piece of scrap paper underneath the top layer of the waterfall fold and edge with the gold pen.

3. Place the 2" x 11" strip of rose vellum on the collage background paper, placing the left edge of the strip about 1-1/4 inches from the left side of the paper. Place the golden vellum strip across the center of the page. Offset the tan vellum piece in the center of the page then layer the remaining rose piece on top, slightly tilted. Add the matted photo on top.

Tips:

  • The vellum waterfall fold is a lovely page embellishment--and very easy to do. Use them as photo corners or as accents on journaling plaques. Make them from vellum or patterned papers. You can also make the fold larger; just be sure to start with a square shape.
  • Pretty, elegant collage motifs are showing up a lot lately. Why not bring this delicate look to photo albums? A variety of vellum papers is a no-fail collage necessity. Try tearing the vellum and layering it with patterned papers for a different look.
