For a page capturing her son's first rock-climbing expedition, Miller couldn't resist titling her page "Fear Factor."

Artist and author Jill Miller uses crumpled paper and rope embellishment for a rock-climbing page with lots of creative pull!

Fear Factor

Materials:

336/2 Cappuchino Kaleidacolor ink
black, dark brown, medium brown and light brown cardstock
jumbo rectangle punch
black and copper paint pens
blue thin rope
eyelets
craft knife
water mister
baby wipes

Steps:

Use water mister to lightly spray dark and medium brown cardstocks. Crumple, flatten and allow to dry.

Then, use baby wipe to dab various colors of ink onto the medium brown cardstock. Tear paper in half diagonally.

Mist 8-1/2" x 11" light brown cardstock and crumple. Open up and fold paper into thirds accordian-style. Rub all sides with various (as in step 1) and tear across upper section of first and second panels of accordian book.

Layer and adhere all crumpled papers (including accordian book) onto black cardstock as shown.

Print the word "Fear" from computer onto light brown cardstock. Trim cardstock into strip measuring 1-1/2" x 8-1/2". Swipe strip with inked baby wipe.

Print the word "Factor" onto white paper. Lightly tape print onto black cardstock strip cut 1-1/2" wide. Trim edges and cut out letters with craft knife. Remove white paper and mount black strip on "FEAR" strip, then mount onto page with foam tape.

Punch four rectangles from light brown and two from black cardstock. Cut black rectangles into thirds and mount black strips onto light brown rectangles. Punch photos with rectangle punch, then mount onto brown rectangle mats. Add journaling with black and copper pens.

Eyelet set small scraps of torn papers and thread with 13" blue ropes. String ropes on page and secure on back. Adhere photo rectangles on top of ropes.
